The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE), Special Education Programs Division, is pleased to announce our in-person Week of Academic Vision for Excellence (WAVE) Conference to be held July 31 – August 2, 2024 at the Central Wyoming College (CWC) in Riverton, Wyoming. This conference is our in-person statewide special education conference for special education directors, administrators, special and general educators, parents, partnering agencies, and other Wyoming stakeholders. 

State and national presenters will cover topics, such as:

  • Behavior
  • Inclusion
  • Literacy
  • Specially Designed Instruction
  • IEP Process
  • Special Education Law

Cost:

  • WAVE Conference Cost: $350  (registration ends June 28, 2024) 
  • Early Bird Registration: $275 (Must register by: May 24, 2024)

This cost includes registration for the conference, snacks and drink service all three days, and lunch on Wednesday, July 31st and Thursday, August 1st.

PTSB/UW Credit:
PTSB (1.5 creditsA) and UW credit are available.

Join us for a Pre WAVE Event –  New Special Education Teacher Boot Camp July 29 – 30, 2024, at the Holiday Inn, Riverton.

Are you a new special education teacher with three years or less experience?  Join us for a pre WAVE bootcamp to dive deeper and engage in the following topics:

  • Providing FAPE 
  • IEP Development
  • Classroom Strategies
  • Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)
  • Behavior strategies   
  • Supporting paraprofessionals

Cost:

  • New SPED Teacher Bootcamp Cost: $200 (registration ends June 28, 2024
  • Early Bird Registration: $150 (Must register by: May 24, 2024)

This cost includes registration for the bootcamp, snacks and drink service, and lunch on Tuesday, July 30th.

A Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS)  is a framework that focuses on system-level change and continuous improvement across the classroom, school, and district to provide each student with opportunities to maximize academic achievement and develop skills for success.

The Wyoming MTSSS Center is a WDE cross-division effort to support Wyoming educators in developing the knowledge, skills, and infrastructure to effectively implement MTSS with fidelity by offering high-quality MTSS training, coaching, implementation tools, and other resources.

Data-Based Individualization (DBI)

Data-Based Individualization (DBI) is a systematic method for using data to determine when and how to provide more intensive intervention. Throughout the DBI process, we use progress-monitoring data to evaluate a student’s response to intervention, moving to the next component as needed.  Get Started with DBI
