CTE Grant Descriptions and Application Dates
All grants may not be used to purchase food, beverage, rental car, gas reimbursement, or any other unallowable uses of funds under the Carl D. Perkins Act of 2006. Applications will be reviewed and scored by a grant review committee with amounts as described below. The awarded applicants’ school district will enter into a contract with the Wyoming Department of Education.
Perkins Funded Grant Opportunities
Open/Close Dates: Opens May 1 and closes July 31
Name of Grant: Professional Development Grant
Amount: Up to $2,500
This application is for Perkins funded programs of study classroom teachers, career guidance and academic counselors, school district/community colleges and Wyoming Association for Career and Technical Education Divisions interested in attending or providing professional development programs at the secondary and postsecondary levels.
Open/Close Dates: Opens July 1 and closes August 31
Name of Grant: Cutting Edge Grant
Amount: Up to $25,000
The purpose of the Perkins Cutting Edge Grant Program is to identify Evidence-Based and innovative strategies and activities to promote the development, implementation and adoption of CTE programs in regards to emerging technology. This grant shall ensure workforce skills are aligned in areas of need in the comprehensive local needs assessment are taught in CTE programs funded under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, as amended by the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V or the Act) aligned with labor market needs.

Name of Grant: Secondary Workplace Discovery Grants
Amount: Amount Varies
This competitive grant may be used to support innovative CTE initiatives at the secondary level. The priority of the awards will be as follows: 1. provide concurrent enrollment fees for community college courses out of their service area; 2. provide work-based learning experiences for students that are in industries closely related to CTE pathways; 3. develop meaningful partnerships between schools and NextGen business/industry representatives; and 4. develop more comprehensive and robust career pathways leading to viable career or post-secondary training options for students.
In order to be eligible for the grant, secondary applicants must have at least one formal partnership established with business or industry (this may include a registered apprenticeship).

Name of Grant: Postsecondary Workplace Discovery Grants
Amount: Amount Varies
This competitive grant may be used to support innovative CTE initiatives at the post-secondary level, specifically those that do the following: 1. develop more comprehensive and robust career pathways leading to viable career training options for students; 2. provide work-based learning experiences for students that are in industries closely related to CTE pathways; 3. develop meaningful partnerships between institutions and business/industry representatives.
In order to be eligible for the grant, post-secondary applicants must have at least one formal partnership established with business or industry (this may include a registered apprenticeship).
State Funded Grant Opportunities
Open/Close Dates: April/May-May/June (specific dates TBD by funding)
Name of Grant: Demonstration Project Grant
Amount: Up to $125,000
The purpose of the demonstration project is to accomplish the following: (i) Prepare high school students for postsecondary options, including two and four year colleges, apprenticeships, military and formal employment training; (ii) Connect academic and technical curriculum grounded in both academic and industry standards; (iii) Provide innovation strategies for ensuring student access to career choices, as well as opportunities for work-based learning and related postsecondary dual enrollment courses; and (iv) Support Wyoming’s workforce based on Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment recognition of high-skill, high-need and high-demand.
The Wyoming Department of Education shall award the grant to the successful consortia (core partners and additional partners) on a reimbursement basis. The reimbursement shall be for expenses associated with planning, development and implementation of a CTE demonstration project as a new or expansion to any existing high school CTE program in a school district. Allowable reimbursable expenses under this grant shall be for: 1) Curriculum development, 2) Project design costs, and 3) Fund initial purchases of equipment and supplies incurred for the demonstration project. Consortia project proposal applications must focus on systemic development of career clusters, career pathways, career guidance, course sequencing, academic core-career technical education integration and curriculum alignment with industry standards.
