Title I: 1003(a) School Improvement Grants
Section 1003(a) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that State Educational Agencies allocate funds for Title I Schools in Improvement in order to help further assist those schools with improvement practices to meet their goals. The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) annually releases a competitive grant for eligible schools to apply for the available funds.
Eligibility
Title I schools identified as in Corrective Action, Planning for Restructuring, Restructuring, or beyond for the current year are eligible to apply for this grant.
Funding
Selected schools will receive a minimum of $50,000.00 per grant award. Schools may request more funding, however, full funding will be based on fund availability and school goals. Please note the 1003(a) is a competitive grant, meaning all schools that apply may not receive funding. Additionally, the allowable activities specified within the grant must target the area(s) for which the school has been identified for improvement and must be allowable under Title I regulations.
Priority in funding shall be given to local educational agencies that:
- Serve the lowest-achieving schools;
- Demonstrate the greatest need for funds; and
- Demonstrate the strongest commitment to helping schools in improvement meet their annual progress goals.
Submission Instructions
Competitive grant applications are located in the eGrants Management System. All applications must be received prior to the annual deadline in order to be considered for funding.
1003(a) Grant Award Monitoring
Each eligible school selected to receive 1003(a) grant funding will be subject to annual monitoring requirements throughout the duration of the grant.
