WY-TOPP Writing Field Testing
Cambium will be field testing new writing prompts for the 2023-24 administration from Monday, October 2 through Friday, October 13, 2023. Schools interested in participating in this optional field test of informational, argument, and/or narrative writing prompts, can complete this form by Friday, September 8 to indicate interest and the number of students participating.
This pilot will not impact the WY-TOPP Modular, Fall Interim, or Winter Interim assessments. These assessment windows will continue to offer the same assessments as in previous administrations. Although narrative writing prompts are being developed by Cambium, the Wyoming Department of Education will not be adding this writing type to the Summative WY-TOPP assessment.
WY-TOPP Writing Window for Spring 2024
To allow sufficient time to hand score all writing tests and produce student results for the Spring 2024 Summative Administration, the WY-TOPP Spring Writing Testing window will be open from Monday, March 4 through Friday, March 15, 2024. WY-TOPP Writing assessments will only be administered during this window and not during the regularly scheduled window that follows in April and May. All students in grades 3, 5, 7, and 9 are expected to participate during this window. To receive an ELA score in grades 3, 5, 7, and 9, students must complete both the ELA and the Writing tests.
