The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will be celebrating National School Nurse Day on May 10, 2023. Wyoming has 208 school nurses serving our 48 school districts. School nurses have a licensure through the Wyoming State Board of Nursing and they follow the School Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice from the American Nurses Association and the National Association of School Nurses.
The WDE honors all school nurse leaders bridging healthcare and education, providing care coordination, advocating for quality student-centered care, and collaborating to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential. These duties and the school nurse’s dedication to healthcare and health promotion has an unmeasurable impact on Wyoming students’ academic success.
