04-08-2024 WDE Seeks Input on Title II-A State-Level Activities

The United States Department of Education has awarded $10,296,071 to Wyoming under Title II of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 for the 2023-24 SY. The majority of funds were sub-granted to school districts and may be used for the preparing, training, and recruiting of high-quality teachers, principals, and other school leaders. Title II-A allows for funds, not to exceed 4% of the state’s allocation, to be set aside for state-level activities that further augment the professional development initiatives of school districts.

The purpose of Title II-A is to:

  • Increase student achievement consistent with the challenging state academic standards.
  • Improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders.
  • Increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools.
  • Provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.

Activities supported by state-level Title II-A funds are contingent upon the continued funding by the federal government.

To share your input and guide decision making on which activities to deliver within the Title II-A allowable list, complete this survey by April 30.
