Remote Winter Interim and Summative Test Administration will be available to students attending Virtual Education Programs in the 26-27 SY.

Note: For the 27-28 SY and forward, WY-TOPP fall and winter interim and summative assessments will be available for remote administration by WDE-approved Virtual Education Programs.

2026-2027 SY Remote Administration Requirements and Schedule
The WDE will offer this new opportunity to administer assessments. To ensure a smooth rollout, all virtual education programs approved to participate in remote test administrations will take part in a two-year collaborative monitoring period during the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years. This quality assurance process will enable the WDE to partner with districts to provide responsive, hands-on support at every step.

To support this work, the WDE uses a dual-pronged monitoring system that safeguards the security of live tests while assisting in the review of district-level policies and training. For the 2026–27 school year, any district or virtual education program choosing to administer WY-TOPP assessments remotely must complete the following approval and monitoring process by the deadlines below:

  • October 1, 2026 — Indicate Intent to Participate: Districts and virtual education programs must indicate their intent to administer WY-TOPP winter interim and/or summative assessments remotely via this Form
  • November 4, 2026 — Complete Required Remote Administration Training:
    • Remote Proctor Coordinator Training: Virtual, November 4, from 8-9 a.m. Register Here.
    • Remote Proctor Training: Virtual, November 4, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Register Here.
    • Note: Remote Proctor Coordinators are required to attend both training sessions.
  • November 16, 2026 — Submit Security Manual: Programs must submit their quality assurance and security manual, along with supporting documentation, for WDE desktop review. This manual must align with the WDE State Policy: Remote Administration of Wyoming’s WY-TOPP Interim and Summative Assessments.
  • December 1–2, 2026 — Conduct Practice Test & System Verification: Upon approval of the security manual, the WDE will partner with programs to schedule and conduct a mandatory practice test of the remote administration system. This exercise verifies platform access, ensures staff proficiency across all roles, and proactively resolves any technical issues before the optional Winter Interim assessment window opens. A step-by-step guide for system testing will be available in the assessment portal.
    • To assist districts during the system test days, the WDE Assessment Team and Pearson Technology Support will hold daily office hours on December 1 from 3-3:30 p.m. and December 2 from 9-9:30 a.m. Participants can join through this link without pre-registering. The Wyoming Help Desk will provide dedicated technical support to Wyoming users.
  • Schedule Live Administrations: When system verification and practice tests are completed, programs are authorized to schedule remote WY-TOPP Winter Interim (optional) and/or Summative tests during standard administration windows.
  • December 15, 2026 & April 1, 2027 — Submit Testing Schedules for Monitoring Observation Visits: Programs must submit their remote-specific testing schedules to the WDE no later than December 15 (for optional Winter Interim administration) and April 1 (for Summative administration). The WDE will use these schedules to coordinate a monitoring visit during the testing window, ensuring the remote system is functioning smoothly and security protocols are upheld.
