The Social Studies Standards have been revised, and informal public input is being collected on the proposed standards through September 27. Additionally, the 2023 Standards for Computer Science, PE, Health & Safety, and Fine & Performing Arts are to be fully implemented this school year.
The WDE is collecting input on the Social Studies Input Survey and will also host three (3) virtual sessions to provide information on the Proposed Social Studies Standards and collect input. See media release.
The following outlines the implementation timeline and public feedback opportunities for the Wyoming Content and Performance Standards (WYCPS). The Standards can be found in a few views.
- By Content Area – public view for 10 content areas plus 3 sets of Extended Standards.
- By Grade Level – public view with all 10 content areas in a single document.
- Educator Resources (login required) include Standards in Excel by Grade Level with Performance Level Descriptors (PLDs) and by Content Area with PLDs.
- Extended Standards (login required) include the standards and Achievement Level Descriptors (ALDs) for Students with the Most Significant Cognitive Disabilities. These are the standards assessed on the WY-ALT.
2026–2027 School Year Implementation
The following 2023 Standards have been adopted and replace prior editions. These content areas are to be fully implemented at the beginning of SY 2026-27 (see Aug. 2024 Update).
- Computer Science WYCPS | Computer Science w/ PLDs
- Physical Education WYCPS | PE w/ PLDs
- Health and Safety WYCPS | Health & Safety w/ PLDs
- Fine and Performing Arts WYCPS | F&PA w/ PLDs
2027–2028 School Year Implementation
The following 2024 standards are adopted and will replace prior editions. These content areas are to be fully implemented at the beginning of SY 2027-28 (see Aug. 2025 Update).
- Math Extended Standards | Math Extended w/ ALDs
- Science Extended Standards | Science Extended w/ ALDs
Note: The Extended Standards provide a common set of goals and expectations for all students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Students will be assessed on these Extended Standards on the WY-ALT in Spring 2028.
2028–2029 School Year Implementation
The following 2024 standards are adopted and will replace prior editions. These content areas are to be fully implemented at the beginning of SY 2028-29.
