April is National Month of the Military Child. The Wyoming Department of Education encourages schools across the state to celebrate military families all month and by wearing purple on Purple Up! Day for Military Kids on April 11.
Month of the Military Child recognizes the important role military children and their families play to keep our country free and safe. All month, schools across the nation will hold events to celebrate the commitment and sacrifice of service members and their families and to pledge their support to help these students excel academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
On April 11, students and educators are encouraged to celebrate Purple Up! Day for Military Kids by wearing purple. Purple is a combination of all the colors of the branches of the military, and wearing it recognizes the unique challenges military children and families face during frequent moves and deployments.
Governor Mark Gordon will declare April as Month of the Military Child in Wyoming with a proclamation signing that will be live-streamed on the WDE Facebook page. Follow along and celebrate all month on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn.
