The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) has expanded the WDE626 and renamed it the WDE626 K-12 District Language and Literacy Data Collection to gather required literacy information for students in Grades K through 12. The deadline to submit the data is August 15.
The updated WDE626 collection process will allow the WDE to gather information connected to literacy screening, intervention, and student support practices for Grades K through 12 while minimizing additional administrative burden on districts and schools. Additional guidance, including updated collection specifications and technical support materials, will be shared with districts in the coming weeks as the WDE works to support a smooth transition and implementation process.
This adjustment is being made in response to the 2026 SF0059 and the state’s continued efforts to strengthen alignment across Wyoming’s language and literacy systems. It is intended to streamline data collection processes while reducing redundancy and duplicative reporting requirements for districts. Rather than creating an additional reporting structure, the WDE is leveraging existing collection mechanisms to support both legislative requirements and local implementation efforts.
Baseline Year: Recognizing that this serves as the baseline implementation year, districts and schools have the option to select District/School is in Process for Grades 4–12 data. This designation reflects the ongoing development and implementation of local systems, policies, and practices as districts collaborate with the WDE to fully implement the requirements of SF0059. District collaboration is appreciated and essential to ensure that statewide systems support both compliance requirements and meaningful systems improvement.
