The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) invites all School Resource Personnel (SRP), including SROs, school nurses, counselors, social workers, psychologists, and administrators, to attend the Wyoming SRP Academy, a statewide event focused on enhancing school safety. The event will be held June 2–3, at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper. The cost is $25 per person. Register here by May 1.
Eligible attendees will receive a $400 stipend, an emergency kit, and PTSB credit. Participants will also be entered into a drawing for registration reimbursement for the 2026 National SRO Conference.
Aligned with federal grant guidelines, the Academy focuses on student-centered practices such as youth resiliency, trauma-informed safety, and fostering integrity within school-law enforcement partnerships to build safer school communities.
- Specialized Training: Intensive sessions on de-escalation and practices for special populations.
- Threat Assessment: Focused on adolescent development and identifying signs of student distress.
- Statewide Networking: Opportunities to connect with partners from the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security, Division of Criminal Investigation, and local law enforcement.
- Collaborative Panels: Discussions with legislators, counselors, and resource officers on current safety issues facing the state.
