As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) encourages educators to support Civic Learning Week, taking place March 9–13.
This year’s theme, “Liberty and Learning: Civic Education at 250,” reminds us that the preservation of our constitutional democracy relies on each generation understanding their rights, responsibilities, and the power of their voice.
Civic Learning Week is a nationwide effort to prioritize civic education. It’s an opportunity to equip our students with the critical thinking skills they need to engage in civil discourse and understand the diverse perspectives that make up our communities.
How to Get Involved:
- Check out the WDE Civics Ed Center! Educators can access free curricula and modules to help students connect with our local and national heritage.
- Access the Civic Learning Week Educator Toolkit: Download a free toolkit featuring lesson plans, activity ideas, and social media graphics tailored for your classroom.
- Join the National Conversation: Tune into the Civic Learning Week National Forum on March 9–10, which will feature discussions on the future of civic learning and student perspectives on liberty.
- Showcase Your Students: We want to see Wyoming students in action! Use the hashtag #CivicLearningWeek and tag the WDE to share how your class is celebrating.
