The Wyoming Department of Education encourages high schools to participate in the annual Pacesetter Award program, which recognizes outstanding Native American students in our state. Complete the selection form by May 8.
High schools can select up to two Indigenous students in grades 9-12 based on:
- Academic achievement.
- Attendance.
- Leadership among peers.
- Performance of community service.
- Aspirations for continued education or training after high school.
There is no scoring matrix, and high schools are free to make their own determination on how to weigh or score the above criteria.
All Pacesetter Award winners will be honored during a ceremony on August 12 at Central Wyoming College in Riverton during the annual Native American Education Conference. Awardees will be recognized on-stage.
