The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) Stronger Connections Grant (SCG) provides historic funding to support State Education Agencies (SEAs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in establishing safe, healthy, and supportive learning opportunities, and environments. The Wyoming Department of Education was allocated $4,833,025.00, of which $4,591,373.75 will be competitively awarded through section 4108 (Activities to Support Safe and Healthy Students) of Title IV, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) to high-need LEAs across the state. These funds are to be utilized to establish safer and healthier learning environments, and to prevent and respond to acts of bullying, violence, and other factors that negatively impact our school communities at individual and systemic levels.

Districts interested in applying for the SCG competition need to submit an intent to apply. This will be used to communicate with potential applicants about the application process, dates of applicant forums, and any future updates. The application window is currently open, and will close on January 5, 2024. We anticipate awards being announced by February 6, 2024. This is a one-time award to be obligated between February 6, 2024 and September 30, 2026.

More information about the SCG program, including grant goals, program design, and eligibility, can be found in the BSCA Frequently Asked Questions document.
