The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) uses a two-pronged monitoring system to ensure the security and proper administration of state assessments in both in-person and remote testing environments. This system ensures strict adherence to live test administration security protocols and allows for a comprehensive review of district-level policies and training. Districts selected for in-person monitoring during the 2026-27 school year will receive notification on October 15. Those districts must submit their assessment manual and supporting documentation for WDE desktop monitoring review no later than December 15.
Approved Virtual Education Programs must submit a quality assurance and security manual, along with all supporting documentation, by November 16. This manual must explicitly align with the Remote Administration of Wyoming’s WY-TOPP Interim and Summative Assessments State Policy.
Following manual reviews, the WDE will conduct live observations to verify that districts follow all security protocols and that testing systems are functioning properly. A WDE assessment consultant will contact districts to schedule an on-site visit during an in-person summative test administration window. To facilitate monitoring of remote systems, a WDE consultant will collaborate with programs to schedule an observation.
