The Wyoming Department of Education encourages educators and counselors to share information with students on the Douvas Memorial Scholarship. Eligible students can apply for this $500 award through April 30. The award recognizes first-generation American status with demonstrated financial need. To qualify, applicants must be Wyoming residents between the ages of 18 and 22, currently enrolled in high school or college. This scholarship is designated for the 2026-27 academic year and may be used at the University of Wyoming or any Wyoming community college to cover educational expenses.
Applicants will be notified of their status via email by May 15. A $500 award check will be issued directly to the recipient’s chosen Wyoming institution in August.
The Douvas Memorial Scholarship was established in 1984 through a bequest from the estate of Mr. Peter George Douvas, an immigrant from Greece who settled in Wyoming. In accordance with W.S. 21-2-603, the fund provides a scholarship to a first-generation American youth in Wyoming to support their pursuit of higher education within the state.
