The WY-TOPP Fall Interim Window is open from September 8 through October 2. Optional interim assessments for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math are available for students in grades 3–10, with writing now embedded directly into the ELA assessment for grades 5, 7, and 9. Science interim assessments are available for students in grades 4, 8, and 10.
These assessments offer a mini-summative opportunity for districts to gather baseline data and inform curriculum decisions for the school year. To ensure educators are prepared, review the following testing documents, available on wyoassessment.org.

Districts must ensure that the assessment security training has been completed and the Wyoming Assessment Security Agreements for K-12 Statewide Assessments have been signed. All individuals administering WY-TOPP Interim assessments must complete Proctor Training, available on wyoassessment.org. WY-TOPP Assessment Changes
Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, the WY-TOPP Interim and Summative English Language Arts (ELA) assessments for grades 5, 7, and 9 will transition to an embedded format. The reading and writing components will no longer be administered separately in these grades. The writing tasks will be embedded directly into the ELA assessment, resulting in a single ELA assessment with two sections. This will look similar to the calculator and non-calculator sections in grade 6 math assessments. Districts should account for this adjustment when planning testing schedules. Reference sheets for students taking mathematics and science assessments are provided. The reference sheets are official WDE resources that contain essential mathematical and scientific formulas, constants, and reference tables to assist students during state assessments. They are considered universal tools, and all students must have access to them during testing; however, the student can choose whether to use them. Sheets with student notes or writing are considered scratch paper and must be destroyed at the end of a testing session. The reference sheets are available here.
Spring 2026 WY-TOPP Data
Results from the Spring 2026 WY-TOPP assessments will be available for districts to review in the WDE Confidential Portal in September. See the June 02 Update for information.
2026-2027 School Year WY-TOPP Data
Due to the transition to the new assessment system, the WDE will convene a committee of educators in mid-2027 to align the Wyoming performance levels with the Pearson measurement scale. This process will result in a delay of data for the WY-TOPP Fall, Winter, and Summative assessments until the Fall of 2027. Districts will then be able to use that data to conduct annual data reviews with district-level data.
