The Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission’s (MIC3) has declared April as the Month of the Military Child to honor the role that military children play, and the sacrifices their families make, while their parents serve our country.
April 12 has been designated Purple Up! For Military Kids Day in Wyoming. Students and educators are encouraged to wear purple and participate in Purple UP! activities to show visible support for military children and families. Districts, schools, and other organizations can coordinate local celebrations, and support these efforts through websites, newsletters, local media, and social media using the hashtags #MIC3Compact and #purpleup4militarykids. Flyers and posters are available for schools.
Visit Wyoming’s Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission and MIC3 Toolkit for Schools for more information and ideas to support these families in your communities throughout the year.
MIC3 membership, which includes the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity schools – addresses the key educational transition issues encountered by military-connected students.
