Farm to School is a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) program that is officially called the Patrick Leahy Farm to School Program. Farm to School helps child nutrition program operators incorporate local foods in the National School Lunch Program, the Summer Food Service Program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and all associated programs.

An increasing number of schools are sourcing locally grown foods for their school meals and snacks and providing complementary educational activities that emphasize food, farming, and nutrition. Producers, large or small, are encouraged to reach out to the Farm to School Coordinator to help identify market opportunities for their bounty to nourish children in your community.
