The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) is proud to announce the launch of the Wyoming SRP Academy. This statewide initiative is designed to strengthen school safety by providing targeted connections, training, and resources for all School Resource Personnel.

In alignment with federal grant guidelines, the Academy focuses on student-centered practices, including youth resiliency, trauma-informed school safety, and the promotion of integrity within the school-law enforcement partnership. Join SRPs and school partners from across the state for a comprehensive professional development experience dedicated to building safe and supportive learning environments and safer communities.

  • Specialized Training: Intensive sessions on de-escalation and practices for special populations.
  • Threat Assessment: Training in adolescent development and identifying signs of student distress.
  • Panel Discussions: Come hear from legislators, counselors, resource officers, and others on current safety issues facing our state.
  • Statewide Networking: Connect with partners from the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security, DCI, and local law enforcement.
  • Modern Safety Strategies: Equipping officers and school leaders with inclusive, modern safety practices.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Strengthen the bond between schools, law enforcement agencies, and parents.
  • Exclusive Resources: Learn about the resources available for school safety around the state.
  • Student Centered Approach: Learn to foster positive relationships and avoid the criminalization of minor infractions.

Expect 1.5 days full of sessions covering the physical safety of schools, student centered practices and relationship building, crisis and behavior interventions and resources, and presentations for federal and state partners.

You will also gain access to professionals in the field across the state to participate in threat assessment table top and panel discussions.
