School districts may request the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) review findings identified by the Wyoming Department of Audit during school finance audits conducted according to WS 9-1-513.
Any state-authorized charter school or school district, within thirty (30) days following receipt of a copy of the audit, may send written notice and information to the WDE, to the attention of Superintendent Megan Degenfelder, and Chief Operations Officer Trent Carroll.
The request shall contain:
- The finding(s) the district disputes.
- An explanation of why the district disputes the finding(s).
- The legal authority the district relies on.
- Changes in the amount the Department of Audit has determined should be repaid to the Public School Foundation Program Account.
- Any additional facts, information, or documents to support the district’s position.
The State Superintendent of Public Instruction or a designee shall issue a decision as soon as reasonably practicable. The WDE shall follow up on the decision in writing and outline the basis for that decision.
