In alignment with legislation enacted by the sixty-second Wyoming legislature, new alternative schools must be approved by the WDE to be included in a district’s configuration under the block grant funding model (W.S. 21-13-309). The WDE remains committed to supporting districts in developing alternative programs that meet high standards for student needs, accreditation, and state accountability.
The WDE has updated the Alternative School Guidebook to reflect current processes and statutory requirements. This resource provides comprehensive guidance on:
- Application and approval procedures.
- Review and reconfiguration protocols.
- Annual accreditation and evaluation requirements.
- Performance measures and determinations as outlined in W.S. 21-2-304(vi) and W.S. 21-2-204(ii).
