AP U.S. Government and Politics is an introductory survey course on, and the factors that influence them; the national election process; the role of interest groups, political parties, and the media in the political system; and civil liberties and civil rights. The selected U.S. government and politics topics. This course covers the origin and development of the U.S. Constitution, including the American systems of federalism, separation of powers, and check and balances; the structure and powers of the institutions of national government, including legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and the processes of domestic and foreign public policy making; political beliefs, participation course encourages students to hone critical thinking skills as they analyze and interpret information and data in primary and secondary source readings, news reports, graphs, and tables to learn how to ask and respond to challenging questions and become responsible citizens.
