The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) is committed to providing clear, accessible information to help families navigate the statewide assessment system. As an ongoing effort to support districts in their communication with parents, the WDE is introducing the Assessment Spotlight campaign.
This initial flyer introduces the campaign’s ambassador, Mrs. Sage — a Wyoming teacher and parent — who will be seen throughout the year helping to demystify the WY-TOPP and other assessment topics.
Districts are encouraged to share the WY-TOPP Spotlight flyer with families, either digitally or in printed form, as they prepare for spring testing. The flyer provides a high-level overview of:
- Grade-Level Testing: Clear breakdowns for ELA and Math (Grades 3-10), Writing (Grades 5, 7, 9), and Science (Grades 4, 8, 10).
- Test Design: Insights into how the test is adaptive to student responses and aligned with the Wyoming Content and Performance Standards (WYCPS).
- Some of the Available Supports: Information on tools like text-to-speech, translations, and assistive technology.
- Practice Opportunities: QR codes that allow parents to “Scan for Practice” and “Scan for More” information directly from their devices.
Districts are welcome to share this and future campaign materials in newsletters, on social media, and in parent-teacher portals.
