Students learn to perform experiments, record observations, and understand how scientists view the natural world. They germinate seeds to observe plant growth and make a weathervane. Topics include matter—states, mixtures, solutions; weather—cloud formation, water cycle; animal classification and adaptation—insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals; habitats—forests, deserts, rainforests, grasslands; oceans—waves, currents, coasts, coral reefs; plants—germination, root, stem, flower functions; human body systems; and light—travel, reflections.
