Offered first semester, this course covers the U.S. government and economy. Students begin by studying colonial America and key documents like the Constitution. They explore the structure of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, elections, voting, and the role of state and local governments. Citizenship skills prepare students for active participation. In economics, students learn about the free enterprise system, economic growth, business types, government budgeting, and the government’s role. They gain personal finance skills, study banking, international trade, global economies, and the spread of democracy worldwide.
