Math Guided Study*

Math Guided Study (B) is a supplemental intervention course designed to provide targeted, tiered support for students who need additional instruction to strengthen foundational mathematics skills. Working alongside grade-level mathematics coursework, this class provides personalized instruction based on student assessment data and individual learning needs. Students receive focused support in mathematical concepts and problem-solving, including number sense, operations, fractions, ratios and proportional reasoning, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics, and mathematical reasoning. Using evidence-based instructional strategies, guided practice, and ongoing progress monitoring, students build the skills and confidence necessary to successfully engage with grade-level mathematics. The course emphasizes mathematical thinking, perseverance, and the effective use of problem-solving strategies while reinforcing essential concepts that support success in mathematics and other content areas. Placement in Math Lab is determined through multiple measures, including academic performance, classroom data, and assessment results, and students may transition out of the course as they demonstrate proficiency and readiness for independent success.
