Math 7 – JHS
The Math 7 Course is designed to teach skills required for a student to be successful in Math 8.Topics include, but are not limited to: using ratios, unit rates, proportions, and percents, prime factorization, and powers; using the four operations with fractions, decimals, and integers; angle classification and measurement; understanding of angle pair relationships; finding volume; demonstrating knowledge of pi and making conjectures about geometric figures; measurement of capacity; choosing the appropriate measurement units; writing and solving one-step and two-step algebraic equations; translating word phrases and sentences into expressions and equations; using the order of operations to evaluate expressions; evaluating expressions and formulas; graphing ordered pairs; recognizing and describing patterns; determining probable outcomes; using appropriate strategies, manipulatives and/or tools to solve problems and communicating the process. Instruction may include the use of a scientific calculator, computer software, and manipulatives
