Language Arts 1
This 1st grade Language Arts course introduces students to the four aspects of language use: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students continue to develop their phonological and phonemic awareness, work on phonics and decoding skills, and increase their vocabulary. Fluency is developed along with comprehension skills. They will be exposed to a variety of texts including fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Writing skills will bedeveloped as students respond to texts and connect ideas with language. They begin to express their own thoughts and ideas in writing as well, using narrative texts, non-fictions texts and persuasive texts.
