ELA Guided Study*
ELA Guided Study (A) is a supplemental intervention course designed to provide targeted, tiered support for middle school students who need additional instruction to strengthen foundational literacy skills. Working alongside grade-level English Language Arts coursework, this class offers personalized instruction based on student data and individual learning needs. Students receive focused support in reading comprehension, vocabulary development, fluency, writing, grammar, and language conventions through evidence-based instructional strategies, guided practice, and ongoing progress monitoring. Instruction is differentiated to address skill gaps while reinforcing grade-level standards and building the confidence needed for success across all academic subjects. The course emphasizes growth, persistence, and effective learning strategies while helping students develop stronger literacy skills for academic achievement. Placement in English Language Arts Guided Study is determined through multiple measures, including academic performance, classroom data, and assessment results, and students may transition out of the course as they demonstrate proficiency and readiness for independent success.
