ELA 5

ELA 5 offers a comprehensive, integrated literacy program combining reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling, with time for keyboarding or cursive practice. The 12 units each focus on a core area—reading, writing, or word study. In reading workshops, students explore fiction, poetry, drama, nonfiction, magazines, and graphic novels through independent reading and activities. Writing workshops guide students from model texts through the writing process. Grammar and mechanics are applied during revision. Word study builds vocabulary through related word groups, and spelling instruction reinforces essential patterns for fluent reading and writing.
