ELA 3

Summit ELA 3 offers an integrated approach to literacy, combining reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling, with added keyboarding practice. The course includes 14 units (2 for assessment), each centered on a key focus area. In reading workshops, students explore classic and contemporary texts across genres through independent reading and activities. Writing workshops guide students through modeled writing and the writing process. Grammar and mechanics are reinforced through revision and proofreading. Word study workshops build vocabulary through concept-based word groups, while spelling instruction emphasizes patterns for reading and writing fluency.
