American History*
American History I introduces students to early American history, covering topics from the first inhabitants of North America through the end of the American Civil War. Students examine the growth and development of the United States, including the causes and effects of the American Revolution, post-Revolutionary expansion, the political, economic, and social landscape of the early 1800s, slavery, and territorial growth. The course also explores Manifest Destiny, sectional conflicts, and the Civil War, culminating in an analysis of the nation at the war’s conclusion.
