Offered second semester, this course is the second half of a two-year U.S. history survey, covering the westward movement of the late 1800s to today. Integrating geography, civics, and economics, students study key events in America’s story. They examine the impact of settling the West, the social, political, and economic changes from industrialization, and the evolving role of the U.S. in global affairs from the late 19th century through the Cold War. The course also traces major events and trends from the Cold War to the early 2000s.
