Alternative schedules that propose fewer than 175 days of teacher-student contact in a given school year must be approved by the State Board of Education (SBE) in accordance with W.S. 21-2-304(b)(viii) and Chapter 22 Rules and Regulations. Districts interested in applying for an alternative schedule for the 2025-26 and/or 2026-27 school year must submit an application, with all required documentation to the Wyoming Department of Education by May 1. The SBE will consider applications during the May meeting, with final approval in June.
View a checklist of required documents before applying. Districts that are not continuing an approved schedule must submit a New Alternative Schedule Proposal. Districts previously approved for an alternative schedule for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years must submit a Continuation of Alternative Schedule Proposal.
Chapter 22 Rules and Regulations require that districts operating under an alternative schedule, submit an End-of-Year Report by July 1, annually.
