CHEYENNE – State Superintendent Megan Degenfelder joined Fremont County School District #2 students and staff at the National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois to celebrate Veterans Day. The museum, founded by Dan Starks, houses the world’s largest private collection of U.S. military ground transportation vehicles.
The celebration kicked off with the announcement of a collaboration between the Wyoming Department of Education, the University of Wyoming Malcolm Wallop Civic Engagement Program, and the museum to develop a military history curriculum around World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam Wars. The partnership will work with several Wyoming teachers who focus on these wars to define and execute the work.
“It is inspiring to watch Wyoming veterans share patriotism and history with students in this amazing museum. I am grateful to Dan and the Wallop team for working to bring the museum into our Wyoming classrooms,” said Degenfelder. “This initiative is another step toward our strategic plan goal of developing citizenship for students through enhanced civics education and engagement.”
“The museum was created to help educate students on the history of American freedom. This new partnership aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Starks.
