The Next Chapter

Life After High School Transition Workshop

What happens after high school? Whether you are heading to a university, starting a trade program, or jumping straight into the workforce, the world looks a little different when you take this step into independence.  Join the WDE Deaf/HH Outreach Team for a hands-on workshop designed specifically for students who are Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing.

Meet other students from across the state who are on the same journey while getting the tools you need to navigate college accommodations, and to understand your rights in the workplace. We will hear from the Disability Support Services Coordinators at each college, go on a tour, and learn a lot!  Your future starts here—don’t miss out!

  • Know Your Rights: Navigating the legal shift from IDEA (High School) to ADA (College/Work).
  • Self-Advocacy & Awareness: Learning how to speak up for your needs and explain your accommodations with confidence.
  • Tech Tools for Success: Exploring the latest assistive technology and apps that make life easier.
  • The College Transition: A deep dive into higher ed, including scholarship opportunities and accessing disability support services.
  • Career Ready: Preparing for the “world of work” and understanding workplace accommodations.
  • Experience it Firsthand: Join us for guided college campus tours to see support systems in action!

The “safety net” changes once you graduate. This series is about making sure you don’t just “get by,” but actually thrive. You’ll meet peers going through the same journey and experts who know exactly how to navigate the system.

Don’t leave your future to chance—grab the tools you need to lead it.
