Introduction to Marine Biology

Introduction to Marine Biology is designed to introduce students to oceanic features and processes, ocean habitats and ecosystems, life forms in the ocean, and types of interactions in the ocean. Students will learn about the formation and characteristic features of the oceans. They will learn about the scientific method and explore careers available in marine biology. The course then covers the characteristic features of different taxonomic groups, habitats, life forms, and ecosystems that exist in the oceans and different adaptation marine creatures possess to survive in the ocean. Students will learn about succession and the flow of energy in marine ecosystems, as well as the resources that the oceans provide and the threats that the oceans face from human activities.
