CHEYENNE – Wyoming Department of Education Chief of Staff Dicky Shanor has been selected to serve on the National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB) Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) State Policy Task Force. The Task Force serves as an advisory committee to the National Assessment Governing Board, which oversees the administration of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) test, also known as the Nation’s Report Card. Shanor will join eleven other state education officials from across the country.

“The NAEP test is the most important national education program and I am honored to play a role in it by serving on this Task Force. I am humbled by this appointment and appreciate Superintendent Degenfelder’s support in me joining this effort,” said Chief of Staff Dicky Shanor.

“Dicky is one of the country’s most experienced state education Chiefs of Staff. He is going to be a value add on the task force and will represent Wyoming and all states well. I am proud of his passion and willingness to be involved with this work. NAEP is an important tool to understand how well our students are learning in Wyoming and compared to other states,” said State Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder.

Shanor’s first meeting on the Task Force recently took place in Washington D.C. At the meeting, members of the task force learned about the NAEP Social Studies Assessment Framework, planned for the next release of NAEP results, and discussed various other topics around the administration of the test.
