V – Fund. of Animal Sci*
A one-semester course that meets one period each day. The course content consists of animal behavior, structure, function and maintenance of major body systems, inheritance and genetics, animal nutrition and feeding, animal health, evaluation and selection of livestock and meats, and products available from meat animals, including poultry. Leadership and career activities consist of writing and presenting animal science research papers and conducting meetings, as well as exploration of careers in animal science, job search techniques and developing desirable employment skills. Students who choose to join FFA will be eligible to partcipate in FFA contests and trips. Some of the class activities may be closely related to FFA and all students are expected to participate. Students will keep a class notebook and project record.
