Math 8 – JHS
Math 8 is a course designed to teach skills required for a student to be successful in Algebra I. It includes, but is not limited to: problem solving using rational and irrational numbers for number operations, using exponent rules with powers, square roots, perfect cube roots, and Pythagorean Theorem; solving equations; graphing linear equations using slope and y-intercept; evaluating algebraic expressions; solving systems of equations by graphing; using formulas, data, charts, tables, coordinate graphs, scatter plots, angle relationships, rigid transformations and functions. Instruction may include the use of a scientific calculator, computer software, and manipulatives. Prerequisites: Math 7 or Honors Math 7.
