Language Arts 6 A
Typically offered in the first semester, this course builds essential language arts skills for academic success. Students read and analyze both informational and fictional texts, using strategies that boost engagement and comprehension. They develop written and oral communication skills through expressive, analytical, and procedural writing in standard English. Vocabulary is taught explicitly and through strategies that promote independent growth. Grammar, usage, mechanics, sentence structure, and punctuation are also covered. Discussions throughout the course foster student interaction and a sense of classroom community.
