This course continues basic skills and instruction in the Language Arts standards: reading, writing, and speaking/listening. An integration of these standards will be presented through a writing and reading workshop format. Communication, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary development will be included, along with a library unit, with utilization of diverse resources. New learning opportunities will emphasize literary response and analysis of novels, short stories, and poetry. This course enables students to develop confidence and responsibility in the practice and application of the communication process.
