Course Description:Course focus is to give students a good foundation in atomic theory and properties of matter. Chemical bonding and use of the Periodic Table of The Elements are both a large component of this course.Course Learning Outcomes:1. Students will be able to describe properties of matter2. Students will be able to describe phase changes and the Kinetic Molecular Theory3. Students will be able to describe the characteristics and properties of an atom and subatomic particles4. Students will be able to use the Periodic Table of the Elements to determine atomic trends and characteristics5. Students will be able to balance chemical formulas6. Students will be able to balance chemical equations using the Law of Conservation of Mass.
