School districts are encouraged to share free and reduced lunch information and other student data with the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) Wyoming sites to help identify students for participation and federal reporting. GEAR UP currently has existing MOUs in place with the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) to obtain information on individual student eligibility.

GEAR UP Wyoming supports students in grades 7-12 to obtain a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and prepare students for post-secondary education. GEAR UP participants may be eligible for GEAR UP federal scholarships and Wyoming post-secondary institutional scholarships allocated for Wyoming participants.

GEAR UP Wyoming is operated through the University of Wyoming in partnership with the WDE and Wyoming community colleges. Grant funding serves 2,000 participants annually and runs through August 2031. GEAR UP Wyoming is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education totaling $4,019,424 annually, with an additional $4,019,424 annually provided by in-kind and scholarship contributions.
