The Wyoming Department of Education, in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Health, will be hosting three regional trainings on suicide postvention, which is the system of support a district may utilize after an unexpected loss of life. Training will be held August 15-16 in Evanston, August 22-23 in Weston County, and August 29-30 in Cheyenne. Additional opportunities will be dependent on participation and feedback received. Registration for the training is available online.
Wyoming Project AWARE districts may coordinate travel through their Community Project Manager. Non-Project AWARE districts can request travel assistance from the Wyoming Department of Health, Public Health Division through the training registration form.
Day one of the training will consist of Connect, a suicide response curriculum that provides guidance and best practice to participants on how to collaborate across systems to create an integrated community response to a tragic death or suicide. On day two, Wyoming Project AWARE will present the Suicide Postvention Guide, which serves as a resource for all school districts when working through an unexpected loss within the district or community, and has been developed by the Wyoming Project AWARE Advisory Council . District teams will have the opportunity to receive in-person support and technical assistance on adapting the Postvention Guide to their district setting.
