The Wyoming Department of Education Special Education Programs Division has opened registration for the in-person SPED Conference, formerly known as the Week of Academic Vision for Excellence (WAVE) Conference, and the New SPED Teacher Boot Camp.
SPED Conference
The conference will be held on July 30–31 in Cheyenne and will focus on specially designed instruction (SDI) in the areas of academic, functional, and behavioral skills. Learn from expert trainers Dr. Tessie Bailey and Christine Manning as they take special educators on a deep dive into the development and implementation of SDI. The cost is $175 and includes conference registration, snacks, drinks, and lunch both days. 1.0 PTSB credit and 14 STARs hours are available for attending the entire conference. Register for the SPED Conference by June 27.
New SPED Teacher Bootcamp/SPED Conference
New SPED teachers with three years of experience or less are encouraged to join the pre-conference New SPED Teacher Boot Camp on July 29. Attendees will learn about and discuss topics including classroom management, caseload scheduling, progress monitoring, data, paraprofessionals, and more. The cost is $200 and includes registration for both the New SPED Teacher Bootcamp and SPED Conference, July 30-31, in addition to snacks, drinks, and lunch for three days. Register for both opportunities by June 29.
