2021 Embracing Literacy Conference

July 15, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

The Embracing Literacy Conference is a virtual conference that will take place over a three-week time span, with sessions offered every Tuesday and Thursday. All sessions will be presented live but will be recorded and available via Canvas for ongoing access to registered participants. The theme for this year’s conference is “The Science of Reading” and includes topics such as early childhood literacy, special education literacy, phonemic awareness, dyslexia, comprehension, and much more. The cost to attend the conference is $25/person. (Processing fees apply for credit/debit payments).

This summer, we have invited national and local experts in reading assessment, instruction, and intervention to support your personal journey to help all children learn to read! Whether you are an early childhood professional, a K-6 General Education teacher, K-12 Special Education teacher, paraprofessional, or administrator you will come away empowered with research-based practices and resources to take back to your school.

Parents and guardians interested in learning more are also welcome to attend. Engaging speakers will discuss the process by which reading skills are acquired, research-backed principles of assessment, instruction and intervention, factors that can make reading difficult for a child, and how to use screening, diagnostic and progress monitoring data for a deeper understanding of what may be impacting a student’s reading development.

UW and PTSB credit will be available for those who attend. Registration information can be found here. Virtual meeting information will be sent upon registration.
