What is my student learning?

Wyoming Statutes Title 21. Education § 21-9-101. Educational programs for schools;  standards;  core of knowledge and skills;  special needs programs;  class size requirements;  cocurricular activities.

All curriculum within these knowledge and skill areas is defined by the local districts; please contact your local district, school, and teachers for more detailed information regarding what your student is learning this year.

What are the graduation requirements in Wyoming?

High school students must successfully complete the following components, as evidenced by passing grades or by the successful performance on competency-based equivalency examinations:

  • Four school years of English
  • Three school years of Mathematics
  • Three school years of science
  • Three school years of social studies, including history, American Government and economic systems and institutions
  • Successfully passing an examination on the principles of the constitution of the United States and the state of Wyoming

These requirements are the minimum; each local school district has the right to augment these requirements to fit their needs. Contact your district for more information on the requirements your students must fulfill to successfully graduate high school.

How can I monitor my student’s grades?

Every school district in Wyoming has a system for tracking student grades. Contact your child’s school for information about how to access grade updates.

The WDE supports districts’ rights to establish their own extracurricular activity options. Please contact your local school for information on what extracurricular opportunities are available. For activities and organization that function outside of your child’s school, consult the Wyoming After School Alliance for comprehensive information.

How do I keep my child engaged over the summer?

The WDE implements the Wyoming Bridges Summer School and Extended Day Grant Program to support schools in the creation of summer programs. Contact your local school to find out what programs are available. Download more information about these programs.

How can my student earn college credit in high school?

The Wyoming Community College Commission website has information regarding necessary processes and opportunities for dual/concurrent enrollment in both high school and post-secondary programs. More Information is available here.
