About the Program
The Student Assessment of Writing Skills – Alternate (SAWS-ALT) is the alternate writing assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities in grades 3, 5, 7, and 11. It is part of a statewide instructionally supportive assessment system which complies with the requirements of the Enrolled Act 90 (EA 90) passed by the Wyoming legislature in 2011, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA).
The SAWS-ALT is administered to students in grades 3, 5, 7, and 11.
